Abstract

Conflict between local communities and village government can arise when governance does not operate transparently, accountably, and participatively. This study aims to analyze the factors causing conflict between the community and the village government in Terong Tawah Village, Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency, the social impacts of the conflict, and possible conflict resolution strategies. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants included villagers and youth figures who were familiar with the conflict. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that the conflict was triggered by low transparency in village fund management, weak accountability of the village government, limited community involvement, suboptimal infrastructure development, and waste management problems. The conflict affected public trust, triggered community protests, weakened social relations, and disrupted the village development process. This study concludes that conflict resolution should be carried out by strengthening public information transparency, optimizing Village Deliberation forums, establishing a mediation team, conducting regular evaluation and audits, and increasing community participation. Transparent, accountable, and inclusive village governance is the key to rebuilding public trust and supporting sustainable village development.
